Love

God is love. It's in the Bible, 1 John 4:7-12, NKJV.  "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us."

God's love is even stronger than death, and nothing can separate us from God's love. It's in the Bible, Romans 8:38-39, NIV. "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

God's love seeks to draw you to Him. It's in the Bible, Jeremiah 31:3, NKJV. "The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: 'Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.'"

God's love is sacrificial. It's in the Bible, John 3:16, NKJV. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

God's love lasts forever. It's in the Bible, Psalm 136:1, NKJV. "Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever."

How does the Bible describe love? It's in the Bible, 1 Corinthians 13:4-7, NKJV. "Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."

Love is deep and priceless. It's in the Bible, Song of Solomon 8:7 "Many waters cannot quench love, Nor can the floods drown it. If a man would give for love all the wealth of his house, It would be utterly despised."

Love does not cause fear. It's in the Bible, 1 John 4:18, NKJV. "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love."

God has told us to love one another. It's in the Bible, 1 John 4:20-21, NKJV. "If someone says, 'I love God,' and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also."

Love your enemies. It's in the Bible, Matthew 5:43-44, NKJV. “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you."

Love does not expect anything in return. It's in the Bible, Luke 6:32, NKJV. “But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them."

Love is the foundation of God's law. It's in the Bible, Matthew 22:37-40, NKJV. "Jesus said to him, 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

Our love for God should be as a fire, stronger than death. It's in the Bible, Song of Solomon 8:6, "Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy is fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the Lord."

Love for God is shown through keeping His commandments. It's in the Bible, 1 John 5:3, NRSV. "For the love of God is this, that we obey His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome."

Love is willing to give yourself up for others. It's in the Bible, John 15:13, NKJV. "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends."

Don't let your love for God weaken. It's in the Bible, Revelation 2:4-5, TLB. "Yet there is one thing wrong; you don't love me as at first! Think about those times of your first love (how different now!) and turn back to me again and work as you did before."

Love is not just a feeling, but takes all that we have. It's in the Bible, Deuteronomy 6:5, NKJV. "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength."

We do not repent in order that God may love us, but He reveals to us His love in order that we may repent. It's in the Bible, Romans 5:8, NKJV. "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." It's in the Bible, 1 John 4:19, NKJV. "We love Him because He first loved us."
